Easterseals CCD’s Community ASL Classes
American Sign Language classes will help you develop expressive and receptive skills by learning the language structure, grammar, fingerspelling, and Deaf Culture. Easterseals hopes to provide students with better awareness of and promote sensitivity towards our Deaf Communities through our classes as well.
The class instructor, Elexis Blake, was born profoundly deaf. She is the only Deaf person in her family. She is bilingual. Her first language was actually American Sign Language.
Elexis graduated from Kent State University with two Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and American Sign Language (ASL) in May of 2018.
She has worked at Easterseals, CCD, for over 2 years as a Case Coordinator/Employment Specialist. She has taught community ASL classes and tutored ASL students for approximately 5-6 years.
